Our Educational Philosophy

"We nuture learning through love and respect."

The parents and teachers of Evergreen Independent School are committed to a philoshophy that endeavors to develop the full potential of each child. This includes striving to meet the child's intellectual, emotional, social, physical, aesthetic and language development needs.

WE BELIEVE

We believe that meeting the needs of each child is best accomplished in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

We believe that children develop in different ways at different rates in different directions. We strive to instruct children in ways that best fit their individual learning styles.

GOALS

The staff and parents of Evergreen Independent School believe that children can develop to their fullest potential when they practice:

  • Cooperation
  • Empathy
  • Self Responsibility
  • Positive Self-Esteem
APPLICATION

To achieve the goals set forth in the school philosophy we practice the following:

  • Parental Involvement: The skills, love and involvement of Evergreen parents in their child's learning are key to meeting our goals for a cooperative learning community.
  • Family Groupings: Family groupings are organized so that students of different chronological ages can be placed in broad academic and social settings for a range of learning opportunities.
  • Theme Teaching: An integrated approach with the use of themes is a stimulating, enjoyable and challenging process that encompases the goals listed above.
  • Experiential Learning: Field trips, hands-on learning and a rich and varied environment all encourage each student to become an active participant in his or her own learning process.
BOTTOM LINE

Everyone at Evergreen celebrates learning. We are all part of a process to become more skilled students, parents, teachers and community members.

Why did you choose Evergreen Independent School for your child's education?

"Small class size means more quality time with the teacher for each child. Family style groupings take the stress out of competing and provides extra tutoring for the younger group members while giving the older ones opportunity to practice leadership skills. Evergreen's focus is on teaching how to learn and like it too. Emphasis on high parental involvement and strict open-door policy produce a very healthy and transparent environment for children, staff and parents."

-- Niko Pfaffe

"At work I hire a lot of people. I look for individuals who have strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving abilities. Most importantly, I choose people who have a cooperative spirit and a zest for learning. I believe these skills will be even more important tomorrow. Our teachers at Evergreen are helping my children gain those skills today."
